Nursery have had a busy week! We have been exploring textures, sharing books and enjoying sensory play. We have had a fun week!
Pupils across Key stage 2 and 3 have worked hard this term on their learning about Africa. To celebrate this, we at Discovery hosted an African Enterprise event. Classes were invited to share their learning, we had paintings of the Serengeti from Thasleem’s class, a whistlestop tour of all things Africa including cultures, tribes and traditions from Lydia’s class, Beth’s class told us about their tribal masks they made and danced to the rhythm of tribal music and Kathryn’s class taught us all about how Africa are leading the way for sustainable building using plastic recycling.
The year 9’s did a brilliant job selling items they had made, such as traditional food – Koeksisters and artwork – canvases, tapestries, bookmarks and coasters and some taught parents djembe drumming. All the Year 9s artwork based on the Ndebele designs was laid out for parents to see.
Everyone did an amazing job showcasing our learning about Africa.
Parent Feedback
My Mam and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting today. We loved joining in the drumming and seeing the pupil’s work. It was interesting learning about how Africa are sustainably using waste plastic to build with.
We thought the enterprise event was fantastic. Very informative and all the children did fantastic work. We were really impressed with the artwork and the food we bought was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the drumming session.
