Supporting Good Attendance

At Discovery, we are here to support you and your child in having good attendance. We know that good attendance is important for children’s future life chances.

Attending school regularly helps children in many ways including;

  • Establishing routines
  • Developing their social and emotional skills
  • Developing independence
  • Developing communication
  • Supporting pupils to be resilient and confident

These are all things that enable children to be happy and to thrive. We wish to work with you to ensure your child reaches their full potential. This can be achieved by ensuring your child comes to school every day.

At the start of each academic year, we ask parents/carers to sign a Good Attendance Home School Agreement (link below).

We review attendance and support you and your child when attendance becomes a concern. We do this through our Attendance Graduated Responses taking into account pastoral needs and significant medical factors.

If parents/carers have any questions about attendance or would like support with their child’s good attendance, please speak to your child’s class teacher, the pastoral team or Cheryl Arkle (Deputy Head of Academy and Attendance Champion). The Trust Attendance Champion is Louise Stogdale.
